August 31 is declared the GLOBAL WOMEN RECOGNITION MOVEMENT (GWRM) Day!
Identity is ‘partly shaped by recognition or its absence’. Recognition with it’s platforms within a particular industry enhances skill, talent and the appreciation thereof, but significantly it also increases value of both the people and the products.
Then ‘Non-recognition can inflict harm, can be a form of oppression, imprisoning someone in a false, distorted, and reduced mode of being’.
GWRM has identified the great harm inflicted on many women around the world today and in the past and therefore our goal is creating a different future. A future whereby women are correctly recognized in their respective fields of occupation or in the contributions to advance societies.
Take action and join the fight for Women Recognition in your region, within your society. Get involved in all spheres of development and leadership, at the work place, at home and in your communities, nationally and globally. We have the pleasure to assist you for your voice to be heard. GWRM is a nothing but the vehicle for recognition but we are the people, the ones who will spread the word on recognition for all. Together, we are the world changers. Here on this website it is stipulated how you and your loved ones can join in as members, how to host house events on raising awareness, how to donate. Be on a look out for marches and campaigns; to be regularly announced here on this site. Join in and take action, be part of a revolution!
All human beings are born equal, men and women are equal, none is above or below the other. None is more valuable than the other. They are both equally deserving of respect, dignity and recognition: this is a human rights issue, and it is irrespective of their social background or color of their skin. This movement views non-recognition of women as an act of gross injustice in terms of due or withheld recognition. The emphasis is in the distinctness and value of women contributions in various fields and therefore GWRM demands the right for appropriate and full recognition where it is due.
Our colors are; orange, black & gold
Elephant is our animal of choice well representative of the movement; The ignored big elephant in the room
The largest living terrestrial animals, male African elephants can reach a height of 4 m (13 ft) and weigh 7,000 kg (15,000 lb).Terrestrial animals are animals that live predominantly or entirely on land.
Elephants form deep family bonds and live in tight matriarchal family groups of related females called a herd. The herd is led by the oldest and often largest female in the herd, called a matriarch. Herds consist of 8-100 individuals depending on terrain and family size. When a calf is born, it is raised and protected by the whole matriarchal herd. Males leave the family unit between the ages of 12-15 and may lead solitary lives or live temporarily with other males.
Elephants are extremely intelligent animals and have memories that span many years. It is this memory that serves matriarchs well during dry seasons when they need to guide their herds, sometimes for tens of miles, to watering holes that they remember from the past. They also display signs of grief, joy, anger and play.
Recent discoveries have shown that elephants can communicate over long distances by producing a sub-sonic rumble that can travel over the ground faster than sound through air. Other elephants receive the messages through the sensitive skin on their feet and trunks. It is believed that this is how potential mates and social groups communicate.
